A listing getting lots of views but few booking requests almost always has the same problem: it doesn't convince fast enough. Travellers compare several homes within minutes — here's how to stand out, without exaggerating or embellishing.
The title: be specific, not generic
"Nice apartment in Marrakech" doesn't tell a traveller anything they didn't already know by clicking on your listing. A good title answers a real question: exactly where, and why this place over another? "Quiet riad 5 min from Jemaa el-Fna, rooftop view" or "Bright apartment in Guéliz, near restaurants and transport" gives immediately useful information, without needing to open the listing.
Photos: the first impression, and often the only one that counts
Your cover photo should be your best one, taken in daylight with natural light — never direct flash, which flattens colours. A few simple rules that make a real difference:
- Tidy up before shooting: a made bed, a clear countertop, no personal items in view all make a real perceived difference.
- Show every room from its best angle, not just the nicest one — travellers get wary of a listing with only 3 photos.
- A photo of the terrace, courtyard or view, if you have one, should always appear early in the gallery — it's often what triggers the "yes."
- Avoid outdated or low-quality photos: a blurry or old photo worries more than it reassures.
The description: answer questions before they're asked
A good description anticipates practical questions: how many stairs to reach the place, whether there's a lift, walking distance to points of interest, wifi and air conditioning availability. Structuring it into a few short paragraphs (the home, the neighbourhood, access) reads better than a single wall of text.
Avoid empty superlatives ("amazing," "exceptional" repeated everywhere) that end up meaning nothing — prefer concrete, verifiable details: "air conditioning in both bedrooms," "fully equipped kitchen with hob and oven," "8-minute walk to the main square."
The price: consistent with what you show
A price that's too low can raise suspicion ("what's the catch?"), one that's too high without visible justification (standard, amenities, location) discourages comparison. Check similar listings in your neighbourhood to position yours, and adjust if you're not getting requests after several weeks online.
The best test for your listing: show it to someone who doesn't know your place and ask what information they'd still need to decide. It's often more telling than any theoretical advice.
One last detail that makes a big difference: responsiveness
A perfect listing with slow replies loses bookings to a less polished one that's more responsive. Turn on notifications and aim to reply within a few hours, especially in the first days after publishing your listing.
